Talented design student scoops new WTD award
Congratulations to Jack Bartlett who won the first ever White Total Design Achievement in Design Awards in association with Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh.
Jack Bartlett, a final-year degree student in Graphic Design, won a design materials/computer equipment voucher and a two week work placement at the White studio for his project based on the style of David Carson, an American graphic designer.
The brief created by White Total Design followed on from a project set by the graphics department at Barton Peveril in which students had to analyse and study 15 famous designers and create a ‘work book’ reflecting their personal interpretation of their chosen designer’s style. The students then had six weeks to incorporate this into a cover and double page spread for a hardback book called ‘Graphics Now’ which White Creative Director David Ives-Farren briefed in at the college.
David said: “This award scheme is our way of supporting the local education community, and it’s great to see the fresh ideas coming through from the potential designers of tomorrow. We were impressed by the quality of creative thinking and presentation that Jack showed, and by the high standards overall.”
Joel Horner, Head of Graphics at Barton Peveril, added: “It’s great for our students to have the opportunity to work closely with professional designers; it gives them a really good grounding and a sense of reality and commercialism. We are grateful to White Total Design for approaching us with this award scheme which gives our students a chance to show off their talent and enthusiasm.”
